Laboratory Department
Southcentral Foundation's (SCF) Laboratory at the Anchorage Native Primary Care Center (ANPCC) handles most of the lab orders that come from clinic providers in the same building. It is a full-service center and is accredited by the College of American Pathologists and The Joint Commission.
The ANPCC Laboratory handles routine lab tests in the following areas:
- Hematology
- Chemistry
- Serology
The lab also handles various specialized tests, such as RPR (for syphilis) and semen analysis. However, it is not equipped for testing in the areas of microbiology, hepatitis, blood coagulation or drug screening. Although these tests are sent to another lab, the ANPCC lab prepares the samples for proper follow-through.
The laboratory is staffed by clinical lab scientists, medical laboratory technicians and a pathologist. Although they do not interface directly with SCF customers, they are frequently consulted by ANPCC clinic providers and nurses to help evaluate test results and to determine which tests might be most appropriate for the evaluation of presenting symptoms or conditions.
